FAQs

How long does it take to have siding replaced?

The timing of siding installation varies greatly. Typically, installation takes 1-3 weeks, depending on the type of siding and complexity of the job. It’s important to note it’s not about the amount of time installation takes, but the quality of the job that matters.

What are the most popular siding types for Minnesota homes?

LP SmartSide siding has become an increasingly popular option for Minnesota homes. Its proprietary four-component SmartGuard sealant guards against weather, pests, and age. Advanced binders strengthen the material for superior strength and impact resistance. LP SmartSide siding is installed pre-primed and ready for your paint color of choice. LP SmartSide repaints like traditional wood siding for a refreshed look anytime you want. Typical siding lasts 30 to 40 years, while steel and aluminum siding last longer, but also cost more.

Can siding installation be done when it’s cold outside?

All types of siding can be installed when it’s cold outside, and there are even benefits to doing so. Siding contractors are less busy, so they’re more likely to be available to complete your job at a convenient time. It’s also more convenient to have siding installed when you’re not wanting to use your outside space. You don’t have to worry about your landscaping being ruined when it’s cold, either. But, if it’s too cold, siding contractors won’t work, to prevent cold-related injuries. Siding can be slippery and/or difficult to handle, jobs can take longer, and crews may need to return for painting and/or touch-ups. For example, sealant must be applied to LP SmartSide and fiber cement siding when temperatures rise in the spring.
